Material

With the Texelana Exquisiet duvet, you can sleep at a pleasant temperature at any time of the year. The summer duvet consists of 70 % wild silk and 30 % mildly cleaned sheep's wool, with a weight of approx. 225 g/m². The spring/autumn duvet is filled with 100% mildly cleaned sheep's wool, with a filling weight of approx. 450 g/m².

The cover is made of 100% cotton satin and is breathable and moisture-absorbent. This is often confused with polyester satin; the shiny, smooth fabric. However, satin says nothing about the material, but about the way of weaving. Cotton satin feels softer and smoother than regular or percale cotton, due to the special 'satin weave'. The cotton is woven much closer together and therefore more threads are used. The result is a very finely woven cotton champagne colored fabric. This is very strong, yet supple, soft and with a brilliant shine. The duvet not only feels luxurious, it also looks luxurious!

Different versions

Texelana has four different versions of wool-filled duvets. The difference lies in the quality of the ticking; this ranges from standard cotton to cotton sateen. Only the Exquisiet duvet has a different filling; in this type the summer duvet is filled with a mix of wool and wild silk.

  1. The Texelana Standard duvet has a cover of 100% cotton. This duvet is available in a four-season version.
  2. The Texelana Excellent duvet has a cover of percale cotton. Percale is woven with a higher thread count. This makes the fabric feel softer and smoother. The fabric also stays beautiful for longer due to the higher weave density. This duvet is available as a four-season duvet, but also as a separate summer duvet. spring/autumn or winter part.
  3. The Texelana Exquisiet duvet has a cotton satin cover. This is often confused with polyester satin, the shiny, smooth fabric. However, satin says nothing about the material, but about the way of weaving. Cotton satin is 100% natural cotton and therefore also has the fine properties of cotton: it breathes and is moisture-absorbent. Cotton sateen, however, feels softer and smoother than regular or percale cotton, due to the special 'satin weave'. The cotton is woven much closer together and therefore more threads are used. More threads per square inch means higher quality and smoother fabric. The satin weave also gives the fabric a slight sheen. Cotton satin therefore not only feels luxurious, but also looks luxurious! This duvet is available as a four-season duvet.
  4. The duvet Waddenparel has a cover of 100% cotton. This duvet is available in a four-season version.

The quality of the sheep's wool is the same for all types of duvets.

Maintenance

Wool has the wonderful property that it is self-cleaning. The lanolin (wool fat) makes wool dirt-repellent and antibacterial. It is important to let the duvet air out properly. That means opening the bed in the morning, so that the wool can breathe and the absorbed moisture can escape properly. Occasionally you can hang the duvet outside for a while (not in the full sun). This way the wool retains its frizzy character and resilience. You can remove any stain with a cloth and lukewarm soapy water.

Wool duvets cannot be washed. If you really want to have the duvet cleaned, this can be done at the dry cleaner. However, this is not necessary with the above maintenance tips.

Warmth classes

There are four heat classes: 1, 2, 3 and 4. The lower the number, the warmer the duvet is. This Exquisie duvet falls into heat class 2 . Explanation of the warmth classes of duvets in short:

  • Class 4 is the thinnest, least warm and most suitable as a summer duvet. The Excellent summer duvet falls into this warmth class.
  • Class 3 is medium warm and best suited for the spring and autumn months. The Excellent spring/autumn duvet falls into this warmth class.
  • Class 2 is warm and most commonly used in winter. Our wool-filled 4-season duvets and the Excellent winter duvet fall into this class.
  • Class 1 is the thickest and warmest duvet. We do not have a duvet in our range in this warmth class.

Origin

Since Texelana has no production capacity on Texel, all our duvets and blankets are made elsewhere in the Netherlands.
