The company was founded in 1957 by Molly Cullen, after many years of creating beautiful Aran designs with her mother and grandmother. Her dream was to continue a family business with a heritage stretching back over 100 years, and she has succeeded. Molly is the granddaughter of Kate O'Shea, who first commercially marketed her hand-knitted wool products in Ireland in 1856. Molly then founded West End Knitwear in her hometown of Monasterevin. To maintain the tradition, the company was taken over by her sons, Paul and John. Now, under the leadership of Molly's grandsons, Niall and Barry, it is the largest manufacturer of Aran knitwear in Ireland. Although West End Knitwear has been around for many years, the company is firmly focused on the future. It was the first company to design clothing for people who love the outdoors. To meet the modern market, several garments have been adapted. The brand is popular and is worn with great pleasure and pride by both men and women.
