Care

Washing advice: hand wash with a wool detergent. Always dry wool clothing flat. Always check the label in the garment for washing instructions.

Wool is a great material for clothing because it is antibacterial and odor-resistant. Wool clothing therefore does not need to be washed often. Hang the garment outside occasionally to freshen it up. If you do want to wash the garment, we recommend the Texelana Wool Detergent. When hand washing, never rub hard to prevent felting. Always check the label in the garment for washing instructions. Always dry wool clothing flat.

If you treat your wool garment this way, it will not only stay looking better and last longer. By airing it instead of washing it, you also save the environment.

Storing wool clothing

We recommend storing your wool clothing clean, possibly with a sachet of lavender; this keeps moths at bay. It is also best to store wool clothing flat so that the elasticity of the wool is not affected.

Pilling and lint

Wool can pill or lint with use. This has nothing to do with the quality of the wool. Pilling is a natural phenomenon that mainly occurs due to friction. Wool consists of many hairs with a natural crimp (curls). Due to friction, the wool can pill and felt. When felting, the hairs join together due to friction. In fact, every movement causes friction. You will therefore often find the lint/pills on the sleeves and under the armpits.

With new clothing, some loose hairs may sometimes have remained after the weaving and knitting process.

Unfortunately, pilling and lint on your beautiful (merino) wool clothing cannot be prevented. We have some tips to somewhat delay this process and how to remove the lint and pills. For this information, we refer to our blog.
