History of Kerry Woolen Mills

Kerry Woolen Mills is one of the last remaining traditional wool mills still producing in the beautiful Kerry countryside. Established over 300 years ago to alleviate local poverty, the mill drew from the adjacent River Gweestin for the power to power its machinery and the water to wash and dye its wool. The mill was purchased in 1904 by the Eadie family, who had previously been active for many years in wool production in Fermangh and Scotland. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm of the family business.

The mill is in a rural location with many of the three hundred year old buildings still standing and functional! The range of machinery has of course changed many times over the years, combining tradition and contemporary styling for today's discerning customers in Ireland and beyond!

Kerry Woolen Mills makes products that last, give warmth and pleasure and are connected to Irish heritage and long-established skills.
