Why do we often recommend a larger size?

Sheepskin slippers are lined with a thick layer of natural wool. This means they fit differently from regular shoes.

It is important not to buy sheepskin products too small. There are several reasons for this:

Optimal insulation. The naturally crimped wool fibres trap an insulating layer of air. This helps keep your feet comfortably warm when it is cold, while the wool helps regulate temperature in warmer conditions.
Longer lifespan. Sheepskin leather is soft and flexible. If a slipper is too tight, extra tension and pressure points can develop in the leather, which may cause it to wear more quickly.
Moisture-regulating comfort. Wool can absorb and release moisture. It needs sufficient space to maintain these natural properties.
Greater comfort. Your toes have enough room to move, making the slippers more comfortable to wear.

Extra tips

✔ Measure both feet. If one foot is larger than the other, use the measurement of the larger foot.

✔ Ideally, measure your feet at the end of the day. Your feet may be slightly larger by then, reducing the chance of choosing a size that is too small.

✔ When measuring, wear the socks you would normally wear with your slippers, if applicable.

Sheepskin slipper with fur trim

Model Veer is a high slipper with a generous fur trim. For extra warmth around the ankles, simply fold the fur trim up. Thanks to the natural properties of wool, your feet stay wonderfully warm while remaining comfortable even on warmer days.

The ferry (Veer) to Texel connects the island with the mainland. As soon as the ferry docks, many visitors begin to experience the island feeling, while Texel residents know they are almost home again. Stepping into these slippers brings that same feeling of calm and coming home.

Specificaties & materiaal

Made of merino sheepskin; soft fur on the inside and supple sheep suede on the outside.
Fur trim can be turned up or down as desired. In some cases, the suede of the shaft is slightly darker or lighter in color than the rest of the slipper.
Sturdy sole made of supple rubber.

What is the Veer slipper made of?

This slipper is made of wonderfully soft and supple merino sheepskin. This natural material keeps your feet pleasantly warm without feeling clammy. Sheep's wool is moisture-regulating, breathable and has the natural ability to absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture. As a result, you enjoy warm and dry feet. A nice bonus is that the lanolin in wool (wool grease) makes your feet wonderfully soft. Feel free to wear the slippers with bare feet.

Onderhoud & gebruik

Maintenance tip

To preserve your sheepskin slippers, we recommend spraying them with a protective spray (not a mousse) before the first use - and regularly thereafter. This protects the product from water and dirt. We recommend the Collonil Active Universal protector for this purpose. Please note: sheepskin products cannot be washed!

Voor het behoud van je schapenvacht pantoffels en wanten adviseren wij om deze vóór het eerste gebruik - en vervolgens regelmatig - in te sprayen met een beschermende spray (geen mousse). Dit beschermt het product tegen water en vuil. Wij adviseren hiervoor de Collonil Active Universal protector of de ShoeSustain Universal protector spray te gebruiken. Let op: producten van schapenvacht kunnen niet worden gewassen!

Since Texelana has no production capacity on Texel, all our sheepskin products are made by small-scale sewing workshops in Europe. Of course according to EU guidelines.
