Washing instructions: hand wash, gently wring to remove excess water and lay flat to dry.

Wool is an excellent material for clothing because it is antibacterial and odor-resistant. Therefore, wool clothing does not need to be washed frequently. Hang the garment outside occasionally to freshen it up. If you do wish to wash the garment, we recommend Texelana Wool Detergent. When hand washing, never rub hard to prevent felting. Always check the label inside the garment for washing instructions. Always lay wool clothing flat to dry.

Treating your wool garment this way will not only keep it looking better and last longer, but airing it out instead of washing it also helps the environment.

Pilling and lint

Wool can pill or lint through use. This has nothing to do with the quality of the wool. Pilling is a natural phenomenon mainly caused by friction. Wool consists of many hairs with a natural crimp (curls). Due to friction, the wool can pill and felt. When felting, the hairs combine due to friction. In fact, every movement causes friction. You will therefore often find lint/pills on the sleeves and under the armpits.

With new clothing, some loose hairs may also have been left behind after the weaving and knitting process. Unfortunately, pilling and lint on your beautiful (merino) wool clothing cannot be prevented. We have some tips to delay this process somewhat and how to remove the lint and pills.
