Frequently Asked Questions about Women's Wool Sweaters
How do you wash a women's wool sweater?
Wool is a great material for clothing because it is antibacterial and odor-resistant. Therefore, wool clothing does not need to be washed often. Hang the garment outside occasionally to refresh it. If you do want to wash the garment, we recommend Texelana Wool Detergent. When hand washing, never rub hard to prevent felting. Always check the label in the garment for washing instructions. Always dry wool clothing flat.
Does wool prevent sweating?
Wool doesn't prevent sweating, but it ensures that moisture is wicked away effectively. This makes your skin feel less clammy and maintains high wearing comfort.
Does a wool sweater itch?
That depends on the type of wool. Coarser wool can feel a bit sturdier, while merino wool is soft and comfortable to wear directly against the skin.
The thin, fine wool fibers of the Merino sheep are approximately 0.01 mm thin, in contrast to the wool fibers of, for example, the Shetland sheep, which has wool fibers as thick as 0.04 mm. The thinner and finer the wool fibers, the less the wool itches. There is even an itch point; for most people, wool starts to itch with wool fibers from 0.028 mm thick. Merino wool with 0.01 mm thin fibers will therefore often not feel itchy.
Which is better: merino wool or regular wool?
That depends on what you find important. Merino wool has finer fibers, feels soft against the skin, and is virtually non-itchy. This makes it ideal for sweaters worn directly on the skin. Merino wool also regulates temperature and moisture very well.
Regular wool (sheep's wool) is often a bit sturdier and more robust. It is very strong and durable. This makes it perfect for thicker, warm sweaters.
Which women's wool sweater is the warmest?
Wool sweaters are naturally warm because the fibers trap air and thus insulate very well. Wool is temperature-regulating and keeps you wonderfully warm on cold days.
How long does a wool sweater last?
Wool sweaters last a long time because the fibers are strong and elastic. With proper care, they retain their shape and comfort for years. Additionally, wool sweaters are not subject to changing fashion trends, so you always look stylish.
Is wool better than synthetic materials?
Wool has special natural properties; wool breathes better and wicks away moisture, whereas synthetic fabrics often retain heat without ventilation. This makes wool feel more comfortable.
