Botter IJsselmuiden

Botter IJsselmuiden has known its history since the early 1920s. Father Botter started his own grocery store. Due to the increasing bustle, his sons later also joined the company. Because the demand for quality yarn continued to grow, the sons decided to produce the sock wool themselves.

Quality for the right price

Botter IJsselmuiden stands for quality for the right price. The knitting wool from Botter IJsselmuiden is warm, sturdy and durable due to the use of a wool/acrylic mix. This makes it a fine, soft yarn that breathes, does not itch and is durable. The wool is obtained in an animal-friendly way.

Knitting wool from Botter IJsselmuiden

Botter IJsselmuiden has two types of knitting wool; the Botter Oslo and the Botter Bergen. Both are made of 20% wool, 60% acrylic and 20% polyamide. The difference is that the Botter Oslo is slightly thicker and is knitted on pin 3.5 or 4. While the Botter Bergen is thinner and is knitted on pin 2.5 or 3. From Botter Oslo you need about 2 balls of wool for 1 pair of socks. You can make 1 pair of socks from Botter Bergen with 1 ball of wool.

Frequently asked questions about wool T-shirts

Is a wool T-shirt suitable for summer?

Yes. Merino wool helps regulate your body temperature, wicks away moisture, and remains comfortable even on warm days. Additionally, the natural fiber structure of merino wool helps shield the skin from some UV radiation.

How do I care for a merino wool T-shirt?

Merino wool is naturally dirt-repellent and less prone to retaining odours. Therefore, airing it out is often sufficient, and a merino T-shirt needs to be washed less frequently than a cotton shirt. Always follow the washing instructions on the label for the longest possible lifespan.

Is a merino T-shirt comfortable on bare skin?

Yes. Merino wool consists of very fine fibers that are much softer than traditional wool. This makes a merino T-shirt feel comfortable on the skin and suitable for wearing directly against the body.
