Specifications & material

  • Material: 5 gauge 100% super soft merino wool
  • Made in Ireland

Care

Washing instructions: hand wash. Gently reshape whilst wet and lay flat to dry.

Wool is an excellent material for clothing as it is antibacterial and odour-resistant. Wool garments therefore do not need to be washed often. Hang the garment outside from time to time to let it freshen up. If you do wish to wash the garment, we recommend Texelana Wool Detergent. When hand washing, never rub hard to prevent felting. Always check the care label inside the garment for washing instructions. Always lay woollen garments flat to dry. If you treat your woollen garment in this way, it will not only stay looking better and last longer. By airing it out instead of washing it, you also help the environment.

Storing woollen garments

We recommend storing your woollen garments clean, perhaps with a sachet of lavender; this keeps moths at bay. It is also best to store woollen garments flat, so that the elasticity of the wool is not compromised.

Pilling and fluffing

Wool may start to pill or fluff with use. This has nothing to do with the quality of the wool. Pilling is a natural phenomenon caused mainly by friction. Wool consists of many tiny fibres with a natural crimp (curls). Friction can cause the wool to pill and felt. When felting occurs, the fibres clump together due to the friction. In fact, every movement causes friction. You will therefore often find fluff and pilling on the sleeves and under the armpits. With new garments, there may also sometimes be a few loose fibres left behind after the weaving and knitting process. Unfortunately, pilling and fluff on your lovely (merino) wool garments cannot be prevented. We have some tips on how to delay this process somewhat and how to remove the fluff and pilling.
