Why do we often recommend a larger size?

Wool felt slippers have a different fit from regular shoes. Wool felt is firm and moulds slightly to your foot as you wear it, but it only stretches to a limited extent. That is why it is important for the slippers to provide enough room from the start.

A slightly roomier fit is important for the following reasons:

• Optimal insulation. Wool fibres naturally trap air. This insulating layer of air helps keep your feet warm when it is cold, while wool remains breathable at the same time.
  
• Moisture-regulating comfort. Wool can absorb and release moisture. Sufficient room around the foot contributes to a pleasant and dry environment inside the slipper.
  
• More comfort. Your toes should be able to move freely and should not touch the front of the slipper. This ensures a comfortable fit, including while walking.
  
• Maintaining the fit and a longer lifespan. Wool felt moulds to your foot as you wear it, but it does not stretch like soft leather, for example. A slipper that is too small will therefore not naturally become sufficiently roomier. Choosing a size that is too small can also increase wear.
  

Extra tips

✔ Measure both feet. Is one foot larger than the other? Use the larger foot as your guide.

✔ Preferably measure your feet at the end of the day. Your feet will have expanded slightly from walking, reducing the chance of choosing a size that is too small.

✔ When measuring, you can also wear the socks that you would normally wear with your slippers.
