Washing instructions
Wool is a fine material for clothing because it is antibacterial and odor-resistant. Therefore, woolen clothing does not need to be washed often. Hang the garment outside occasionally to freshen it up. If you still want to wash the garment, we recommend Texelana Wool Detergent. When hand washing, never rub hard to prevent felting. Always check the label in the garment for washing instructions. Always let woolen clothing dry flat.
If you treat your woolen garment this way, it will not only look better and last longer. By airing instead of washing, you also save the environment.
Storing woolen clothing
We recommend storing your woolen clothing clean, possibly with a sachet of lavender; this keeps moths away. It is also best to store woolen clothing flat so that the elasticity of the wool is not affected.
Pilling and lint
Wool can pill or lint through use. This has nothing to do with the quality of the wool. Pilling is a natural phenomenon that mainly occurs due to friction. Wool consists of many fibers with a natural crimp (curl). Due to friction, the wool can pill and felt. During felting, the fibers join together due to friction. In fact, every movement causes friction. You will therefore often find lint/pills on the sleeves and under the armpits.
With new clothing, there may sometimes be some loose fibers left over from the weaving and knitting process.
Unfortunately, pilling and linting on your beautiful (merino) wool clothing cannot be prevented. We have some tips to delay this process and how you can remove the lint and pills. For this information, we would like to refer you to our blog.
