Wool felt works fundamentally differently from sheepskin. The material is created when wool fibres interlock under the influence of heat, moisture and friction. The scale-like structure of the wool fibres catches onto itself, forming a dense and sturdy material.

This compact structure allows wool felt to retain its shape well and prevents it from collapsing quickly. The material is firm and provides more support than softer options such as sheepskin. At the same time, it remains breathable because wool naturally regulates air and moisture. As a result, wool felt slippers feel stable and dry, especially if you wear them frequently or move around a lot while wearing them.

When should you choose boiled wool slippers?

Boiled wool slippers are ideal if you are looking for lightweight, flexible slippers that feel comfortable and can be worn throughout the year. Which Sole Do You Need and Why?

The sole is often underestimated, yet it largely determines how you'll use your slippers.

A leather sole or another soft sole feels lightweight and flexible, making it ideal for indoor use. It moves naturally with your foot and provides a relaxed walking experience. You'll comfortably walk around the house and before you know it, you'll still be wearing them while relaxing on the sofa. They're designed for those quiet, comfortable moments at home.

Because of its sturdier construction, a rubber sole feels slightly firmer underfoot than leather. Some people appreciate that added support, while others prefer the flexibility of a softer sole.

Choosing between leather and rubber isn't about which is better—it's about how you intend to use your slippers. Indoor-only slippers have different requirements than slippers you'll wear throughout the day, both indoors and outdoors.

Slippers for Wide Feet, High Insteps or Orthotics
